Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety

Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety

The Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety focuses its efforts on improving patient safety and reducing harm in health care. As part of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA), we have the insight and expertise needed to help address the unique challenges facing Illinois providers.

There are several components to our offerings

Midwest Alliance for Patient Safety (MAPS) Patient Safety Organization (PSO) – MAPS PSO offers healthcare providers the opportunity to work together to reduce serious events and patient harm within the federal confidentiality and privilege protections of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005. We offer:

  • Full privileges & confidentiality
  • Secure adverse event data-collection solutions
  • Peer networking/learning/sharing
  • Educational tools to improve patient safety

MAPS PSO is focused on serving healthcare organizations across the continuum of care

In coordination with our parent organization, the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA), MAPS provides support for healthcare challenges facing Illinois communities.

During COVID-19, we opened a public blog forum to update our healthcare providers and the community on the latest information. MAPS also supports the IHA efforts for health equity across our urban, suburban and rural communities. Visit the Health Disparities Resource Hub to learn more.
